I just found out about this cool Ice Cream Shop in north Scottsdale called Sweet Republic and I’m excited to go to the store and check out their menu. It looks like they have some really different and seemingly strange flavors on menu, like theCheese Course Duo which is a pairing of Roquefort blue cheese and Arizona Medjool dates.
Sweet Republic also has somewhat more conventional, although not that common of flavors that you would normally see, like the Salted Butter Carmel flavor and the Real Mint Chip. The web page say’s they have 24 flavors available daily and seasonal flavors like Eggnog, Pumpkin Spice and Sweet Corn.
It looks like this shop has been mentioned by the press including bon appetit, and they have won the much coveted New Times Best of Phoenix.
At 1500 Hours the clouds broke open long enough to allow the sun to shine down and create a beautiful full arch rainbow. See photo below.
The metro Phoenix area has been covered in clouds today with rain coming and going pretty much all day. To people in Seattle and similar climates this may sound depressing but to us Phoenicians it’s a wonderful thing. The desert is in full bloom and all the desert shrubs have turned green and the air outside smells so fresh and crisp. At one point today the clouds broke long enough to let some sun in to create this wonderful rainbow.
To all of our clients that came here to rent a vacation home with the intention of sunning by the pool and hitting the putt putt’s out the on greens we apologize for the rain.
Every Saturday The Pavilions in Scottsdale Arizona host a free car show. Over the years the show has really grown in size. I remember back when it was one row of muscle cars and a few imports scattered here and there. Now the place is packed with cars. The idea has really caught on and today I was able to check out hundreds of cherry muscle cars, rat rods, Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s and even this 2 million dollar Bugatti sporting a V16, quad turbo engine capable of producing speeds up to 253mph and a stop to 60 mph time frame of less then 2.5 seconds.
Even though these imported sports cars a blast to drive I find myself drawn to the classic muscle cars of the 60’s. I saw this sweet Oldsmobile 442, and a few cherry 68 Camaro’s and my all time favorite car of all time hands down, The 65 GTO! I was fortunate enough to find two of them today! Both 65 Goats were excellent examples of the car. The first was a pearl white hard top and it was beautiful. The one that stole my heart though was the all black convertible. (you can see it in the video footage at the bottom of the page) I would love to take a road trip across the country in the 65 GTO.
Well at least this time I had remembered to bring along the trusty Nikon D70s and a Sony video camera. I’m no professional photographer and I would hardly even call myself an amateur so take it easy on the criticism ok!
Follow this next link to watch a slideshow of some nice cars.
I also took this video footage that I compiled together. In it you will see the dragster on display, a nice Cobra, the awesome black GTO convertible, The Bugatti, two Lamborghini’s and a ton more cool cars.
By February 2011 the Diamondback’s and the Rockies will have a spring training facility right next to the Pavilions. The car show is really going to take off then.

I am really looking forward to all the action at the 2010 Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale Arizona. Every year I find time to escape the office and get away from my Vacation Home management duties long enough to catch all the action. Being an avid flyer and collector of airplanes, this year there is one lot in particular that I am looking forward to more then any other, Lot #1307, an ultra rare 1929 Hamilton Metalplane.
